Meet my new iPad Air

November 2nd, 2013

iMadokaEvery year Apple releases an update for their iPad lineup. This year they created something incredible, something that redefines how we use tablets (again) – the iPad Air. If before, the 9.7′ iPads were heavy and bulky, so much that you would have to chose to take that or your laptop to uni or work, with the iPad Air that is no longer an issue. It is lighter and thiner. So much lighter, I might add, that I feel as if I am holding an iPad mini in my hand. The design of the back mimics the design of the mini and feels really nice in your hands. By making it lighter and thiner, holding the iPad Air in one hand feels comfortable and natural. Anyway I love it. I finally have an iPad that I can call my own, and I will be using it mainly for entertainment, but also sometimes for uni and stuff. I am pretty sure that my mom is very jealous of this device as her main complaint about her iPad (iRin) is that it is too heavy.

If you follow my blog you would know that last month I stood in line for like 4 hours to get an iPhone 5s , which I named iShinobu. This time I only waited for like 10-15 minutes and got the iPad Air straight away, very nice. And if you know anything about anime, you can guess what I named this amazing new gadget:
iMadoka ( Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica )

In this flickr set I have some photos of the figure of Godoka (ultimate form of Madoka), so take a look there.

Stand in ALL the lines, buy ALL the things!

iPhone_GTA

This has been a very expensive week for me, but I can honestly say that it was worth it! GTA V, iPhone 5s and the Bower & Willkins P3 headphones are all mine, and I sure as hell am enjoying all of them. I’ll talk about my purchases in chronological order, so first up I would like to start with one of the best games (and definitely the most anticipated) of the year –

GTA V

The game was set out to come out at exactly 12am on the 17th of September. Naturally I preordered it, but then I also decided to go to the store at like 11:30pm to wait for the midnight release and pick it up straight away to get some gaming time before going to bed. I can say one thing, good thing I came 30 minutes early! I managed to get a spot at the front of the line (8th or 10th) thereby getting the game right away at 12 and heading home. The game cost $89 (which is the normal price for the standard edition of any console game in Australia).

jazz down

So this week for out SEP (Software Engineering Practice) class we had to use this online software called Jazz. But since we have 150 students trying to register and access it at the same time, it crashed. So we are just sitting here and waiting for it to go back online to try and do our lab work… The second it goes back up, everyone tries to access it again aaaaand its down again.

Lets hope this gets fixed for next week when we need to use this for our assignment.

Doctor Who Google Maps Easter Egg

August 14th, 2013

Doctor Who

You have all probably heard of Dr. Who at some point or another, cause the show has been going for half a decade! This year in November the show is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Well since its Geek Week, Google Maps introduced an interesting easter egg into Google Maps. You can look inside the Tardis with street view!

(If you don’t know what the TARDIS is, come on.)

TechCrunch wrote up an article about it, with detailed instruction on how to get in. So head over there and see how the Tardis looks from the inside.

Netbank app

Last week I was contacted by a marketing research organization on behalf of Commonwealth Bank in regards to their iOS mobile banking app. Basically its a focus group where they showed up slides of the new software and asked us questions about how we feel when seeing these new features. It sounded like an interesting thing to do on a Thursday evening, especially cause they gave me $80!

Our new Samsung 46F8500 TV

July 4th, 2013

SamsungTV_FREE

When I arrived back home and set foot in my house again after 3 years of being abroad, I could not help but notice the 12 year old TV in our living room. It was a Sony Trinitron and looked something like this, I dont have a picture of ours and we already gave it away. とにかく、it was old and outdated, a serious upgrade was required. Thankfully my dad was on my side on this one and so we set out to buy a new TV, yay!

The Internet…. Here and There

April 3rd, 2013

The Internet… Its such a magnificent thing! I can not imagine living without it. Everything I do during the day revolves around using the internet in one way or another. May it be Skyping with my parents back home, or checking into a restaurant on Foursquare, or simply checking my Twitter feed and replying to chat messages in Line. Its amazing how much we can do on the web these days, and it makes our lives just a bit more colorful. But you know what annoys me more then anything? SLOW CONNECTION SPEED AND LOW BANDWIDTH!
